    Responsibilities

    NASA Ames has an ongoing requirement for scientific research, application development, and deployment of advanced information systems technology.  This is a critical requirement to the NASA mission and other federal government projects.  Join the Noblis team and help NASA research, design and develop next generation technologies that will shape the future of air and space flight missions and operations.

     

    Noblis is looking for qualified candidates to fill an Autonomous Systems and Robotics Lead position that will lead multiple teams of scientists and engineers in the areas of research, development, and deployment of tools in support of NASA’s Space, Flight, ground and test missions. The place of performance for the Robotics Lead is NASA Ames and will directly report to the Program Manager. This position will provide leadership and direction to research and engineering teams in the following areas:

    • Research and development of artificial intelligence, intelligent robotics, computer vision, aeronautics, electrical engineering, planning and scheduling, and discrete and continuous control
    • Support the achievement of program goals that are subject to complex temporal constraints (e.g. limited communication, trajectory maneuvers etc.) limited resources (e.g. power, memory, etc.), and control
    • Develop a broad range of Artificial Intelligence methods to the NASA missions and the such as model-based reasoning and simulation, decision theory, machine learning, intelligence synthesis, and multi-agent coordination
    • Develop automated planning and scheduling algorithms and intelligent navigation and guidance systems
    • Decision support systems for data systems
    • Robotic sensing and computer vision
    • Adaptive and optimal robotics control

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent and 10 years related experience (or PhD and 5 years)
    • Proven leadership and management experience of multiple concurrent science, research, and engineering teams
    • History of working within R&D environments and proven record of applying cutting edge science into missions and operations
    • Research background and interest in one or more of the following areas
        • Robotics (hardware, software, human-robot interaction)
        • Machine learning and computer vision
        • Optimization
        • Control theory
        • Planning and scheduling
        • Astrodynamics

     Desired Qualifications:

    • PhD preferred
    • Experience working on NASA R&D efforts, flight systems, space systems, or ground systems
    • Recent publications in the software research and engineering domain
    • Recognized thought leader with history of participating in industry events, conferences, and speaking panels
